Taylor

Taylor Swift has become a unique pop star: a celebrity who has strayed from country music to pop culture and became a pop icon that will be around forever, and will conquer all of the world. Swift shed country like it was an additional layer of herself, proving that she's perhaps the best pop-singer/songwriter in her generation. One who can harness the current zeitgeist and make it personal as well as be able to perform at the opposite. This was evident in her early hits including the neo-tribute Tim McGraw but her second album 2008's Fearless showcased a songwriter discovering the person she really was, and, in doing so, gaining the mass market. Fearless became hugely popular not only in the US where its Top Ten singles Love Story and Belong with Me helped it to achieve six platinum records however, it also swept the world. It performed particularly well in Canada, Australia as well as the U.K. Speak Now delivered almost two years later and consolidated this achievement and propelled Swift into the stratosphere of stardom. Through her next three albums, Red (2012) 1989 (2004) and Reputation (2017) Reputation (2017), the popularity of Swift grew, and she was able to enter the world of pop music where it was clear that she belonged. Although she slowed down her approach with 2020's stripped-down sister album folklore, and Evermore she remained atop the world of pop, a position she kept with the re-recordings of her earlier catalog, as well as Midnights her chart-topping synth-heavy 2022 collection.
