Lee
Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football and volunteering for the community. First family he is the youngest of the nine children born to Lucious Selmon and Jessie. The family lived on a family farm near Eufala, Oklahoma. In football, he was alongside three brothers from Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi Award for being the best lineman in the country. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy being the starting player. They also won the national title twice. Selmon was a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given the opportunity to receive a scholarship in his third year in 1975. Selmon has a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy's fourth volunteer service was ten-hours per week of volunteer time in the college. Following graduation Lee Roy moved to Tampa where he spent 9 years with Tampa's Buccaneers. There were three times, he was selected All-Pro. He began his business career. By 1988 he had become an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as a member of the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that the year 1982 was when The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy one of ten outstanding young people throughout the United States. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in height and weighed 256 pounds as a college player he played for the team of 1975. In 1993 he joined the University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He also made his way into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 awarded the Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
